Organizational Statement
The City of Oneida Fire Department is a fully paid, career department operating from one central station under the Commissioner of Public Safety. Leadership includes the Fire Chief, one Assistant Chief, and three Deputy Chiefs overseeing four platoons, each supervised daily by a company-grade officer. A minimum of five firefighters are on duty at all times, including at least one Advanced Care EMS provider and one fire inspector. All firefighters hold at least Basic EMT certification. Administrative support includes one full-time assistant.
Divisions manage essential operations:

Training Division – Oversees 100 hours of annual fire training per member.

Mechanics Division – Maintains all vehicles and equipment.

EMS Division – Ensures compliance with state regulations and provides 75 hours of annual EMS training.

SCBA Division – Maintains breathing apparatus and the cascade system.

Fire Marshal’s Office – Conducts inspections, enforces fire codes, leads prevention programs, investigates fires, and reviews plans for new or renovated commercial properties.
