CIVIL SERVICE
The Civil Service Department consists of an Executive Secretary/Human Resources Specialist and a three-member Civil Service Commission who administers the provisions of Civil Service Law and the City’s merit system.The Civil Service Office is responsible for position classification, as well as maintaining all personnel and leave records. The department administers the recruitment and hiring processes for the City of Oneida, the Oneida City School District, and the Oneida Housing Authority. Continuous recruitment examinations are periodically offered for positions including School Secretary, Account Clerk, and Custodian. In addition, the City conducts State Civil Service Commission examinations as needed for competitive titles such as Firefighter, Police Officer, and Water Reader.
