The Oneida City Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency comprised of twenty-nine full-time sworn police officers dedicated to serving the residents, businesses, and visitors of the City of Oneida.
The department’s administration includes the Chief of Police, Assistant Police Chief, and two Police Lieutenants who together provide leadership, direction, and accountability for the agency’s operations. The Patrol Division, the backbone of the department, consists of twenty members—eighteen Patrol Officers, five Police Patrol Sergeants, and one Police Patrol Lieutenant—who work a four-days-on, two-days-off rotation of eight-hour shifts. This division patrols approximately 22.13 square miles, serving a diverse population of about 10,500 residents across both urban and rural areas.

The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is made up of three Investigators and a Sergeant of Investigations, responsible for handling complex and sensitive investigations. In addition, one Patrol Officer serves as the Evidence Custodian, ensuring the integrity and proper management of all evidence. Supporting the department’s day-to-day operations are three dedicated clerical staff members and one Community Service Officer (CSO) who help strengthen ties between the department and the community.

At its core, the Oneida City Police Department is community-focused and committed to serving better together. The department places a strong emphasis on transparency, respect, and open communication, giving the community a voice in public safety matters and ensuring that every interaction is guided by professionalism and integrity. The department is proactive and responsive to the evolving needs of the community—listening, adapting, and engaging with an open mind. Officers receive ongoing professional development to enhance their skills, maintain the highest standards of policing, and continue to build trust through service and accountability.

As part of its commitment to innovation, the department implements cutting-edge, 21st-century policing strategies supported by advanced technology enhancements designed to increase responsiveness, efficiency, and overall service to the public. Through these initiatives, and by participating in programs such as the Rural Violent Crime Reduction Initiative, the Oneida City Police Department continues to strengthen its mission to protect, serve, and partner with the community in building a safer, more connected Oneida.
