DEPARTMENT OF CODES ENFORCEMENT
Welcome to the City of Oneida Codes Department
The Department is responsible for the following:
- Administering and enforcing all of the provisions of laws, ordinances, and regulations applicable to the construction, alteration, repair, removal, and demolition of buildings and structures, and the installation and use of materials and equipment therein, and the location, use, occupancy and maintenance thereof.
- Receive and review all applications for permits for the erection, alteration, removal and demolition of buildings or structures.
- Make site inspections to make sure applicants comply with City, State, and Federal building codes.
- Issue a “Stop Work Order” on any work site that is in non-compliance until the work is brought ‘back to codes’.
- Provide Housing standards applicable to residential premises within the boundaries of said city, including inside and outside districts.
- Provide basic and uniform standards and requirements governing the condition, occupancy, and maintenance of residential premises and establishing reasonable safeguards for the safety, health and welfare of the occupants and users
