Welcome to the City of Oneida Civil Service Department

 

The Civil Service Department consists of an Executive Secretary/Human Resources Specialist and a three-member Civil Service Commission who administers the provisions of Civil Service Law and the City’s merit system.

The office handles position classification, personnel and leave records. The department is also responsible for the recruitment and hiring of City and various Oneida School District, and Oneida Housing Authority personnel. Continuous recruitment exams are held periodically for Typist, School Secretary, Account Clerk, Custodian, and other similar positions. When needed, the City holds exams scheduled by the State Civil Service Commission, such as Firefighter, Police Officer, Water Reader, etc.

The open competitive examination announcements are posted on our website and surrounding cities and counties. Anyone wishing to discuss employment opportunities may visit the office, or call 363-2022 for information.
