Deed Recording Fees

Pursuant to Local Law No. 1 of 2013, Section 5.27 "Filing of Assessment Roll", every deed of conveyance of lands in the City of Oneida, or other instrument in writing, whereby the ownership of said lands shall be changed, made and executed after this Local Law takes effect, shall, before the same be received for record by the Clerk of the County of Madison, be presented at the office of the Assessor, who shall note the transfer of title upon their records.  The fee for recording the aforementioned deeds, written instruments, and maps or plat, with the Assessor shall be as follows:

Filing Fee for Recording of Deeds: $100.00
Fee for Copies related to Deed Filings: $ 5.00
Filing Fee for Recording Subdivision Map $10.00

In the City of Oneida, all deeds must be stamped by the Oneida City Clerk’s Office for submission to the Oneida City Assessor’s Office prior to recording with the Madison County Clerk’s Office.  On March 17, 2026, the Common Council passed Resolution No. 26-49, increasing the Deed Recording Fee, otherwise known as a Deed Stamping Fee, from $30 to $100.  The increase in the fee is effective immediately.

  • Please make checks or money orders payable to City Clerk
  • The City Clerk will stamp the deed upon receipt of payment
  • Please provide a copy of the RP -5217 Form
