The Department of Planning and Development is the primary land use agency and is instrumental in designing the City’s physical and socioeconomic framework. The department's ambition is to make all of Oneida a better place to live, to maintain what works and improve what doesn’t.
City planning combines creativity, science, and community input to make Oneida a healthier, more vibrant place to live. We work with neighborhoods and local partners to plan smart, sustainable growth that reflects our City’s character and keeps information open and accessible to everyone.
This year, we welcomed Steve Vonderweidt as our new Director of Planning and Development. Steve holds a Master of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship and brings over 15 years of leadership experience in community planning, operations, and nonprofit management, along with a strong background in grant management and strategic planning. He is excited to partner with residents, local businesses, and community organizations to support economic growth and help move Oneida’s development projects forward.
