The purpose of “The Housing Code of the City of Oneida”, Chapter 77, is to:

  • Provide housing standards applicable to residential premises within the boundaries of said city, including inside and outside districts;
  • Provide basic and uniform standards, in terms of performance objectives implemented by specific requirements governing the condition, occupancy and maintenance of residential premises and establishing reasonable safeguards for the safety, health and welfare of the occupants and users thereof.

How to File a Complaint (Housing, Lawn, other):

A signed complaint form must be on file with the City before an inspector can respond and, if deemed legitimate, take appropriate action. To file a complaint, please submit a complaint form which is available in the Oneida City Hall lobby, 109 N. Main St., or download the Complaint Form found on our website.

All complaint forms must be signed by the person making the complaint and have a phone number provided. Once the complaint has been investigated and found to be legitimate, enforcement actions will be taken.

Please be aware that we are bound by the confines of the New York State Fire and Property Maintenance Codes and the Code of the City of Oneida
